Tips Merawat dan Memperbaiki Flash Disk

Kita semua pasti memiliki sebuah Flash Disk, Pen Drive, ataupun memori drive. Kemudahan dan kemampuan dalam menyimpan data portable sangat mengagumkan mengingat bahwa Eksternal Hardisk sebagai Penyimpanan data portable sangat mahal harganya.

Dengan hadirnya flash disk yang harganya lebih terjangkau, menarik minat para pengguna komputer (aktif) untuk memilikinya. Dari segi harga pun mulai bersaing, bahkan saat ini harga Flash Disk berkapasitas 4Gb hanya di bandrol dengan harga 100-150 ribu. Hmm,, ternyata ada kekurangan di balik harga flash disk yang murah, yak,, kualitas dari flash disk tersebut, atau kita sebut saja umur pakai dari flash disk tersebut. Menurut pengalaman saya, sebuah Flash disk hanya mampu bertahan sekitar 6-12 bulan saja. itu pun tergantung dari frekuensi pemakaiannya.

Maka dari itu saya akan memberikan sedikit informasi yang saya ketahui tentang bagaimana cara merawat dan menyelamatkan Flash Disk anda.

Hal-hal yang harus diperhatikan bagi para pemilih Flash Disk diantaranya:

1. Selalu lakukan back-up data atau file-file penting anda ke CD ataupun harddisk komputer anda. Hal ini perlu dilakukan mengingat kita tidak tau kapan dan dimana Flash DIsk kita akan mengalamai kerusakan.


2. Selalu simpan flash Disk anda ditempat yang aman dan kering. Tempat yang lembab dapat mengakibatkan kerusakan (secara tidak langsung) pada Flash DIsk anda.


3. Pada saat mencabut Flash Disk yang telah terkonek pada Komputer, usahakan selalu menggunakan fasilitas "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device". Hal ini memperkecil kemungkinan bad sector atau error pada Flash Disk anda.


4. Gunakan Flash Disk pada saat yang diperlukan saja, maksudnya jangan terlalu sering menghubungkan Flash DIsk anda dengan Komputer jika memang tidak diperlukan. Saya beranggapan bahwa Flash Disk memiliki umur pakai yang salah satunya di hitung dari jumlah Read and Write File kedalam Flash Disk tersebut.


5. Segera bersihkan jika Flash DIsk anda terserang virus-virus lokal. Menurut saya virus-virus lokal lebih berbahaya dan lebih sering menyerang Flash Disk daripada menyerang system pada komputer anda.


6. Lakukan ScanDisk pada flashdisk anda jika anda merasa flash disk anda sering digunakan untuk Read and Write File.

Jika Flash Disk anda sudah terlanjur mengalami kerusakan, disini saya ingin berbagi ilmu bagaimana cara mengatasi masalah. Masalah yang terjadi pada Flash Disk banyak jenis dan sebabnya, maka kali ini saya akan membahas masalah yang sering / umum terjadi saja.

Kemungkinan-kemungkinan yang terjadi jika Flash DIsk anda tidak terdetiksi diantaranya:

1. Driver USB anda tidak tersedia / rusak / hilang, lakukan pengisntallan kembali driver USB anda


2. Settingan BIOS, mungkin tanpa disengaja settingan pada BIOS untuk USB di Disable, Enable-kan settingan pada BIOS dan coba kembali.


3. Port USB anda mulai rusak. Cobalah untuk menggunakan port lain atau gunakan terminal USB yang banyak dijual.


4. Rusak secara Fisik, Kemungkinan yang terakhir ini cukup sulit untuk memperbaikinya, cobalah untuk memformat Flash Disk anda.

Cara Memformat Flash Disk anda

1. Untuk memformat Flash Disk anda dapat menggunakan command Prompt dengan cara mengetikkan "Format [lokasiFD]:/f" misalnya "Format E:/f" pada command prompt anda (tanpa tanda petik).


2. Cara kedua adalah dengan menggunakan Aplikasi yang dikeluarkan vendor HP, aplikasi ini dpat digunakan meskipun Flash Disk anda bukan bermerek HP. Cara penggunaanya cukup mudah, GUI dirancang sedemikian rupa sehingga menyerupai Fasilitas Format pada Windows. Silahkan download HpUtilitiFormat

Mungkin sekian dulu tips dari saya,, memang dirasa kurang jika dilihat dari banyaknya masalah yang timbul dari Flash Disk. Tapi saya akan tetap berusaha mencari dan terus memposting jika timbul masalah yang baru, tentunya dengan solusi yang mungkin dapat anda gunakan.

Recovery File CHK pada Flash Disk

Beberapa hari setelah saya memposting tips merawat dan memperbaiki Flash Disk, saya mendapatkan masalah pada Flash disk saya. Seluruh file yang ada dalam Flash Disk saya hilang entah kemana, setelah saya telusuri dengan cara membuka semua hidden File dalam Flash Disk ditemukanlah sebuah Folder dengan nama "Folder000".

Pada awalnya saya bingung

Folder apa ini..? Apa isinya..? apakah ini sebuah virus..? Kenapa di Hiiden oleh Windows..? Super Hidden lagi..!!!

Dengan sedikit "nekad" saya buka folder tersebut, ternyata isinya hanya kumpulan file berekstensi *.CHK.

Apa File CHK itu?
Setelah saya selidiki dan mencari info tentang file ini, ternyata saya mendapatkan kesimpulan bahwa seluruh File-file penting saya (mulai dari gambar, music, Video, Word, dll) berubah menjadi file berekstensi CHK dengan penamaan yang terurut. Kapasitas file-file saya yang asli ternyata sama dengan jumlah kapasitas file tersebut.

Hal ini diakibatkan terjadinya kerusakan / error (bad sector) pada Flash Disk kita, sehingga Windows dengan sengaja mengganti File-File saya menjadi File berekstensi CHK. Tujuannya mungkin agar sector yang error tersebut tidak digunakan kembali.

Kemungkinan besar karena seringnya saya mencabut Flash Disk tanpa "Remove Safely USB", semua ini karena VIRUS,,,, huh,,,,

Bagaimana Mengembalikan File kita?
Nah,, akhirnya saya mendapatkan solusi, semua ini berkat mbah Google yang selalu membantu saya, ternyata file CHK tersebut dapat direcovery dengan bantuan beberapa software.
Nama Software tersebut yaitu UnCHK. Jadi inti aplikasi ini adalah mengembalikan semua file kita yang dirubah menjadi file berekstensi CHK.

Caranyapun sangat mudah kita tinggal meletakkan Aplikasi UnCHK ini didalam "Folder000", setelah itu jalankan aplikasinya dan,,BOMMM seluruh File yang berekstensi CHK berubah menjadi file-File lama kita.

Kelemahan unCHK.
Tetapi ada kelemahan dalam Proses Recovery, ternyata seluruh File yang telah direcovery disimpan di dalam Folder000 dengan penamaan [FILExxx.xxx]. Dalam kasus saya, Jumlah file yang saya recovery sebesar 880 Mb dan menghasilkan jumlah File CHK sebanyak 5491 File. Coba anda bayangkan dengan File sebanyak itu saya harus me-rename File tersebut sesuai dengan aslinya.

Solusinya:
Secara kebetulan saya mendapatkan cara bagaimana cara merecovery file-file CHK tersebut dan mengurutkannya kembali. Memang cara tersebut harus dilakukan secara manual dan memakan waktu yang cukup lama.
Caranya dengan menggunakan Kaspersky Antivirus, dengan cara men-scan Folder yang berisi File CHK akan didapatkan NamaFile dan Direktori tempat File tersebut disimpan, anda dapat melihat log hasil scan Kaspersky. Dengan begitu anda akan mengetahui File CHK mana yang menurut anda harus direcovery terlebih dahulu.

Cara Penggunaan Aplikasi tersebut sangat mudah,, Anda hanya perlu menentukan lokasi dimana File CHK diletakkan, kemudian anda harus menentukan lokasi dimana File Hasil Recovery disimpan. Pada form UnCHK - Scan Depth, saya merekomendasikan anda untuk memilih opsi "Embeded files". Setelah itu hanya tinggal menunggu saja proses recovery

Mengenal Content Management System (CMS)

Content Management System, disingkat menjadi CMS saat ini menjadi sesuatu yang tak terpisahkan dari sebuah web. Sebenarnya apa sih definisi CMS? Secara singkat dapat dijelaskan bahwa CMS adalah software yang digunakan untuk mengatur dokumen dan konten sebuah system. Dalam hubungannya dengan web, tentunya yang akan diatur adalah dokumen dan kontennya.

Apakah hanya dokumen dan web konten yang bisa diatur? tentu saja tidak. Dalam perkembangannya hal-hal yang bisa diatur oleh sebuah CMS semakin banyak. Contohnya block atau module position, front page manager, bahkan templates atau themes (tema) dari tampilan CMS kita.

Struktur CMS secara garis besar terdiri dari dua bagian, yaitu Frontend dan Backend. The single most important reason anyone buys a notebook is for portability. This is something that you can take anywhere. If you frequently travel in your work, you need a notebook. If you are a student going back and forth to the university, you need a notebook. If you are journalist traveling the world and submitting articles, you need a notebook. And today’s notebooks can be as powerful as most desktops with dual processors, large capacity internal drives, and other attractive features. But which one is right for you? How do you determine what type of notebook will fit your current needs plus allow you to expand for the future?

And the first part of the answer to the question of which one is right for you leads to a half-answer: “It depends.” It depends on what you are going to do with the computer. Are you going to use it for work or recreation? Is it something needed for your profession or are you a hobbyist? Do you play a lot of games? What level of internet access do you need? It is also important to remember that unlike desktop models, notebook computers cannot be upgraded easily. In fact, they usually have no upgrade path so you should take the time to get exactly what you need in terms of features and performance.

One characteristic of a notebook computer one should consider is the screen size. If you need to be able to have a lot of landscape for projects you are working on then consider a wider screen. Screen sizes usually can range from 10.4 inches to 17.1 inches. If you do a lot of work on an airliner in economy class, you are probably better off with a smaller screen size (because of the reclining seatbacks in front of you). Also a smaller notebook is just easier and lighter to carry around. Some who do presentations with their notebook computers will benefit from larger screen sizes such as those that use the newer WXGA technology. WXGA notebook screens can achieve resolutions up to 1366 by 768 pixels.

Battery life in your notebook computer is very important too. If you move around quite a bit, you might want to consider buying a notebook with not only a long lasting battery (most go 2-3 hours), but also one where buying a spare battery is not very expensive. One very inexpensive solution for the battery problem is to buy an external universal battery that can last up to 3-4 hours.

Another feature you need to consider when buying a notebook is internet connectivity. You will find that a popular way for people to work these days is with a wifi-enabled notebook at a wireless hotspot (such as in coffee shops, restaurants, libraries and airports). If you are buying an older used notebook, you may have to get an additional wifi-card if you want to have the mobile connectivity provided by this technology. Also, you will find that most hotels nowadays offer high-speed internet access but it is usually through a wifi connection.

And lastly, you need to consider what other options you want for your notebook computer. Do you want a CD writer or will you need to record DVDs? Do you need premium sound? How large of a disk drive do you need? When it comes to disk space, CD/DVD writers, sound cards, memory, and processor speed, it’s best to get it now as opposed to get it later. Here’s why: The upgrade path for most laptops and notebooks is not very long. This is because notebooks are probably replaced every 2-3 years. They are quick becoming just as expendable as a set of tires for your car. And if you do not maximize on memory and processor speed, your notebook may not able run efficiently the new application and game software. Clean Out Your Windows Registry

Windows registry is one of the most important parts of your computer. This database holds information about every program on your computer. Obviously the state of your computer's registry has a large impact upon its performance. An overcrowded or corrupt registry might very well be the reason your computer operates poorly or takes forever to boot up. Messing up a single entry within the huge database could cause fatal errors to the computer. Causing the registry to fail will cause your entire computer to fail. If you are noticing a slow-down or constant crashing, don't look toward reinstalling windows or reformatting your computer; clean out your registry!

To look through the computer's registry, simply go to run and type in REGEDIT. If you don't know what you're doing, don't bother going anywhere near this program. The Google Goal Of Indexing

In their paper 'The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine' it is very evident that Google's goal has always been to be one of the best search engines there is in terms of the quality of the results it gives. Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page, however knew that in order to do this, Google needed to be able to store information efficiently and cost effectively and to have excellent crawling, indexing, and sorting methods or techniques. Google not only aimed to give quality results but to produce the results as fast as possible.

Google started as a high quality search engine and continues to be the best search engine today. It has managed to stay true to its original intent to be a search engine that not only crawls and indexes the web efficiently but also a search engine that produces more satisfying results in comparison to other existing search engines.

To stay true to the goal of providing the best search results, Google knew right from the start that it had to be designed so that the search engine could catch up with the web's growth. According to Brin and Page "In designing Google we have considered both the rate of growth of the Web and technological changes. Google is designed to scale well to extremely large data sets. It makes efficient use of storage space to store the index". They knew that they needed much space to store an ever growing index.

Google's index size, which started out as 24 million web pages, was large for its time and has grown to around 25 billion web pages, still keeping Google ahead of its competitors. However, Google is a company that doesn't settle for just beating the competitors. They truly aim to give their users the best service there is and that means as a search engine they want to give users access to all or at least most of the quality information that is available on the web.

Google's New System for Indexing More Pages

As mentioned earlier, Google aims to give access to even more information and has been devoting time and much effort to realize this goal. It seems that the new patent entitled 'Multiple Index Based Information Retrieval System' filed by Google employee Anna Patterson might be the answer to the problem. The patent published just this May of 2006 and filed way back in January of 2005 shows that Google might actually be aiming to expand their index size to as much as a 100 billion web pages or even more.

According to the patent, conventional information retrieval systems, more commonly known as search engines, are able to index only a small part of the documents available on the Internet. According to estimates, the existing number of web pages on the Internet as of last year was around 200 billion; however, Patterson claimed that even the best search engine (that is Google) was able to index only up to 6 to 8 billion web pages.

The disparity between the number of indexed pages and existing pages clearly signaled a need for a new breed of information retrieval system. Conventional information retrieval systems just weren't capable of doing the job and just wouldn't be able to index enough web pages to give users access to a large enough percentage of the present existing information available on the web.

The Multiple Index Based Information Retrieval System, however, is up to the challenge and is Google's answer to the problem. Two characteristics of the new system makes it stand out compared to the conventional systems. One is that it has the "capability to index an extremely large number of documents, on the order of a hundred billion or more". And the other is its capability to "index multiple versions or instances of documents for archiving...enabling a user to search for documents within a specific range of dates, and allowing date or version related relevance information to be used in evaluating documents in response to a search query and in organizing search results."

With the new system developed by Patterson, Google now has the ability to expand its index size to unbelievable proportions as well as improve document analysis and processing, document annotation, and even the process of ranking according to contained and anchor phrases.

History of Google's Index Size

Google started out with an index size of around 24 million web pages in 1996. By August of 2000, Google had managed to quadruple their index size to approximately one billion web pages. In September of 2003, Google's front-page boasted an index of 3.3 billion web pages. Microdoc, however, revealed that the actual number of web pages Google had indexed during that time was already more than five billion web pages. In their article 'Google Understates the Size of Its Database', they emphasized that Google not only specialized in simplicity but also in understating their power and complexity. Google was still managing to stay ahead of its competitors and continued to surprise everyone with what they had up their sleeves.

As Google's index continued to grow the number in their front page grew impressively large as well before it plateaued at eight billion web pages. This was around the time that Patterson filed the new patent.
